Sorting in Notion: A Quick Overview

Sorting in Notion helps you organize your content, whether it's a list of tasks, a collection of notes, or a database of contacts. Here's how to do it:

Accessing Sort Options

  • Navigate to the database you want to sort.

  • Click on the ... (three dots) in the top-right corner.

  • Select Sort from the dropdown menu.

Choosing Sort Criteria

  • Choose the property you want to sort by, such as 'Name', 'Date', or 'Priority'.

  • Decide on the sort direction: Ascending or Descending.

Multiple Sorting Layers

  • You can add multiple sorting layers to prioritize one property over another.

  • For instance, you can sort by 'Priority' and then by 'Date'.

Removing Sort Criteria

  • To remove a sort criterion, click the x icon next to the property name in the Sort menu.

Things to Note

  • Sorting changes are automatically saved and applied every time you access the database.

  • You can always revert to the original order by removing all criteria.
